Adding wall paneling to your walls can turn a flat space into one with texture and style. Another benefit? It’s relatively easy to install too, especially with the right hack.
Last month, TikTok user @filiz.interior posted a hack wherein IKEA’s EDSBRUK frames are cleverly turned into wall panels. In the video, the content creator transformed the frames by first removing the glass and art prints. Then, she sanded down the pieces and applied a coat of paint, before gluing the frames on the wall and giving the entire room an off-white paint job. To finish, she added a long shelf above.

And that’s it! It’s a style of wall paneling that is pretty straightforward to put up, and it looks authentic.
“Saves a lot of work. Great idea!” reads one comment, while another added: “You win IKEA hack of the month!”
Some complained though that this technique is more expensive than just buying trim. With each EDSBRUK frame costing $27 each, it won’t be cheap if you need several pieces. Still, if you don’t have the right power tools and would rather save time than save money, then this IKEA hack might be for you.
If you prefer other frame styles, know that you don’t have to limit yourself to IKEA. You could also look up more ornate ones in other sites like Etsy, or if you’re really on a budget, perhaps you can find vintage ones from a thrift store.
